No more news on the school acceptance front (unfortunately).
They are, however, asking for money now. Seems a bit premature, don't you think? Shouldn't I hear word of acceptance before I start paying? Meh. Guess it can't be helped.
In other news, a kindly fellow by the name of Kevin was discovered at a Taiko gathering last weekend. He will be going to Doshisha for the year as well, though he hails from UCLA. We can be taiko buddies together there!
I spent 3.5 hours tonight talking with a friend of mine who will be going to Tokyo on OAP in the fall. We're getting each other psyched. It's going to be AMAZING!
I find myself hyperventilating in glee at random moments. I'll be making breakfast and-- OH MY GOD I'M GOING TO JAPAN... I'll be taking Rusty out and-- AHHH! JAPAN... I'll be doing laundry and--WEIFNSDKCMOEWFLK JAPAN!!!!!
It's a little bit ridiculous. I'm probably giving myself bad blood pressure.
I am sad that by the time I get back, most of my friends here will have graduated and moved away. I'll be starting all over. I guess that's something to be said for the drawbacks of single-minded determination-- it can be detrimental to social lives. (note: I almost wrote in loves instead of lives. Freudian slip??)
I'll just have to get good at keeping in touch with people. It's something my family isn't too good at. I guess it's up to me to break the chain!
がんばります!

i hate to be redundant, but DEATH x__X
So the last scholarship application is off!
All that's left now is to wait....
...
....
Oh yeah! And to get shots. Apparently in 2007 (?) there was an outbreak of Measles in Japan. So we have to take care of that M.M.R.
Hopefully we'll here back soon and I can stop fretting.

BUSYYYYY!!!
good lord. i can't believe getting to another country is this much work... well maybe i can. finishing up the Doshisha application. got to make it good or i won't be going to my school of choice! o__O
sigh. i still have to write a paragraph in Japanese about why i chose Doshisha over the other schools in Japan. That's plenty easy to say in English... but Japanese, that's another story. i wish i had been born speaking all the languages of the world.
wouldn't a genetic memory be AWESOME?? that's they way it should be done. hurry up and evolve stupid human race. shameful.
anywho, just a bit more to go now! hopefully i'll get accepted to doshisha. and hopefully that Boren scholarship will go through... it's doubtful, but i can't help but hope. it'd be amazing if that pulled through. i wouldn't have to freak out about money as much and i could really enjoy Japan. that would be way cool... not that i won't enjoy japan even if i don't get the scholarship...
oh look at me. now i'm rambling. wit is hard when you're drained of all energy .__.
well, i'll leave it at this:
-EAP acceptance [check]
-Boren scholarship app. [check]
-Doshisha app./acceptance [pending]
-Duttenhaver app. [pending]

And so it begins
I've decided that this blog will track my time abroad from the very beginnings.
Tonight I made the copies i needed to for the application. I finished up my online application as i listened to President Elect Barack Obama give his acceptance speech. It was powerful. Watching him up there with several hundred people's eyes fixed on his every move, I realized just how HUGE a job being the President is. I think he'll do well. I just hope no one assassinates him. I don't think America would ever recover.
But, that's another matter. Tonight a lot of my application is in and I'm getting ansy. I want everything to be settled and to be GOING!
I asked Matt to take a look at my statement of purpose. I have no idea how to sell myself. I can have bravado at times, but i'm really a very humble person.
-__- Maybe that's from all the people that constantly point out my flaws. Thanks for that Mom, George, Ian... anyone else want a piece?
Well, in a few more months... Kyoto here i come!
